BSX ‘Without A Clue’, Intrada’s ‘Momma’
By Ryan KeaveneySpecialty labels are releasing new albums of old scores like it’s going out of style (or maybe because the new stuff just isn’t as interesting?). Intrada recently announced a pair of David Newman oldies: Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and his first score for director Danny DeVito, Throw Momma From The Train. Both limited to 1,500 copies. Meanwhile, Buysoundtrax has also gone back to the ’80s well, announcing the premiere and complete presentation of Henry Mancini’s no-shit-Sherlock-score Without A Clue, and the 1970s Hammer production Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter, with music by Laurie Johnson. La-La Land Records has joined in on the nostalgia releasing the positively brand new (by this group’s standard) Bad Boys, Mark Mancina’s contempo-laced score which helped establish (unleash?) the Media Ventures action scoring template.
